The history of Ethel M Chocolates – those unique creations such as Lemon Satin Cremes, Almond Butter Krisps, Cream Liqueurs and delicious Silk Truffles – began with Frank and Ethel Mars in their home kitchen in Tacoma, Washington. The couple began a family tradition of producing quality confections, which is still followed today.

Forrest Mars, Sr., the son of Frank and Ethel Mars, guided his family's business for many years, watching it grow steadily to become a leading manufacturer of snacks. He retired in 1976, but less than two years later decided to devote himself again to what he enjoyed most, creating new chocolates. What better name for these premium confections than that of the woman who started it all – his mother, Ethel Mars.

The original Ethel M Chocolates factory, constructed in 1979, and one retail store have grown to 21 retail stores located primarily in Las Vegas. The original selection of nine varieties of chocolates has increased to more than 60. Corporate and manufacturing facilities are in Henderson, Nevada, where around 2,000 people per day are welcomed on tours of the factory and Botanical Cactus Garden.
